Gay rights:
Gay rights have been an issue ever since Society for Human Rights were started in 1924 in Chicago. It hasn't been an easy way to where they are today, which is still not where they, after my opinion, should be. Harry Hay started the first ever gay rights organization in The United States in 1951, note that this is still 27 years after the first Human Rights society. It took an astonishing six years from the first gay rights organization started until the first lesbian rights organization were started, in San Francisco. Still up to 1973 homosexuality was considered a mental disease. Pretty good call, I would say.
Since 2000, numerous states have legalized civil unions, and the last state, the sixteenth, Hawaii now legalized same-sex marriage in November 12th. Personally I think this is not something that should have to be "legalized" it should be a constitutional right, but the fact that more and more states now allow same sex marriages, shows that we are getting closer to a better place to live for everyone.
