Chapter 19: Immigration, Urbanization and Everyday Life. (Extra Credit)
This chapter discusses the immigration, the urbanization and the everyday life in the 1900s. The majority of the immigrants were fighting against the Native-Americans who did not like them because they feared them. The immigrants were forced into the Ghettos and the rich lived in nice neighborhoods. The distinctions between the classes were getting more apparent than ever. During this time the Victorian morality shaped the middle class and the culture. Not only was the living standards, but they also created a new research university system to train teachers, doctors, lawyers etc. Anthony Comstock was busy attacking the immigrants and trying to change their values and cultures, "Americanize them" while other people were trying to improve the living conditions of the people.
